We are excited to release registration for our Summer Hockey Schools!
GVMHA Hockey Schools focus on developing age appropriate fundamental technical and tactical skills such as skating, passing, puck control, and shooting.
This season we are excited to offer the following programs.
Integrated Skills Camps
Offered the week of August 5-9, with specific offerings U7, U9, U11, U13, and U15/U18. the GVMHA week long skills camps offer players an opportunity to work on their technical skills including skating, puck control, passing, and shooting. Skills will be developed through a series of technical drills, tactical drills, and small area games.
With our U15/U18 camp, we will include 30 minutes of checking skills instruction daily.
Female Skills Camps
A female only skills camp environment is being offered the week of Aug 12-16. GVMHA offers two groups for Female Skills Camps, U9-U11, and U13-U15. Players will work on their technical skills including skating, puck control, passing, and shooting. Skills will be developed through a series of technical drills, tactical drills, and small area games.
Developing D / Creating Offense
These two topics will run concurrently on the same ice sheet, We will take 8 forwards and 8 defenceman in this group and working on position specific skills and drills to their positional skill set. Forwards will work out of one end, defencemen in the other. At the end of each practice, we will bring the groups together to work on skills and concepts in a tactical environment - forwards against defencemen. The purpose behind the model is to put your position skills into practice in real game like situations! For example - Forwards may be working on 2-man entries, while the defencemen are working on defending rushes. At the end of practice, we will put the group together through 2 on 1 drills where both groups can implement the skills learned in game like situations.
Power Skating
New for 2024, we will be offering a U9-U11 Power Skating Camp! Work with GVMHA skating instructors on the finer details of your skating. The camp will focus on the fundamentals of the forward stride, backward stride, stops and starts, and crossovers and turns.
U7 FUNdamentals
A great introduction to skill development for U7's! Work on the FUNdamentals of skating and puck skills in a fun and progressive practice environment!
Goaltending Development
Goaltending instruction will be provided in all camps with the exception of our speciality topics (Power Skating/Position Specific Camps). Goalie registration is limited to 4 goalies per camp.
